E' descritto l'uso di sostanze e/o composizioni di natura polimerica per il trattamento dell'uremia cronica. Tali sostanze e/o composizioni sono costituite da polimeri e copolimeri lineari e reticolari, sintetici, semisintetici e naturali a base acrilica, metacrilica e saccaridica con proprietà di idrogelo sensibili alla concentrazione idrogenionica e/o contenenti gruppi funzionari capaci di legare chimicamente tossine uremiche azotate. Tali sistemi sono caratterizzati dalla proprietà di rimuovere notevoli quantità di acqua a pH 6,5-9 (20-100 mL/g), unitamente a metaboliti tossici azotati (10-200 mg/g) ed elettroliti quali ioni sodio e potassio (0-30 mEq/g), con preferenza verso lo ione sodio.The use of polymeric substances and / or compositions for the treatment of chronic uremia is described.
