Abstract

The body of the joint of elastomer material, of a flat and almost rectangular shape when viewed in plan, has solid identical strips 19-119 equally spaced apart which start from the reinforced longitudinal edges 1-101 of the joint and which end halfway across the said joint, where they combine into a narrower longitudinal median strip 18. The transverse strips placed on either side of this longitudinal strip are offset by half a pitch with respect to the opposite transverse strips 119 in such a way as to form a system of opposing offset combs. Between the said solid transverse strips are provided recesses 20- 120-22-122 which can be seen from both sides of the joint and which are closed by septae 21-121-23-123 of bellows shape which enable the joint to react to the tensile and compressive stresses to which it is subjected in a transverse direction, with the said transverse strips approaching or moving away to and from each other by an appropriate amount with any appreciable deformation being induced on the horizontal surfaces of the joint. <IMAGE>
