Abstract

Manufactured articles of syndiotactic polystyrene in which the polymer is substantially present in a new crystalline form characterized by an X-ray spectrum having reflections of greatest intensity at 2 Θ(CuKα) of 8.4 degree, 10.6 degree, 13.6 degree, 17.2 degree, 20.8 degree, 23.6 degree and in which the ratio between the intensities of the two peaks R = I(8.4)/I(10.5) is greater than 5. A process for obtaining the said manufactured articles is also claimed. The invention lies in the scientific/technical field of the chemical industry, more particularly in the sector of separations between molecules of different types. The invention may advantageously find industrial applications in the field of the treatment of water and wastewater, the control of air pollution and in any event in all situations where separation between molecules is required. <IMAGE>
