Abstract

Plant for the purification of waste water by aerobic digestion with activated sludges, comprising a plurality of modular tanks 1-4 each provided with corresponding means 5 for aereating the effluent and connecting means 8, 10, 11 for feeding the effluent in series from one of the said tanks to the next which include: - a first homogenisation tank 1 of composite plastic material provided with aeration means adjacent to the bottom 5, - a plurality of digestion tanks 2-4 each provided with the said independent aeration means and having discharge means 11 capable of maintaining a constant level of fluid in each of the said tanks, - level indicator means associated with the homogenisation tank and a monitoring and control device acting together with the level indicator means to adjust the aeration flow in the said digestion tanks in relation to the level of effluent in the homogenisation tank. The plant is particularly suitable for the treatment of effluents having a COD or BOD which varies greatly over time. <IMAGE>
