Abstract

The present invention realises a design of a waterproof and dielectric expansion joint with large excursion, particularly suitable for railway bridges. It is essentially comprised of: - a "bridge" element, designed to support the load at the structural opening, simply supported at the ends; - a hooking body, connected to one end of the structure, formed by the assembly of two elements of complementary function, so as to produce a hinge connection for the bridge element; - an additional body, connected to the other end of the structure, likewise formed of two elements with complementary function, so as to produce a running connection for the bridge element. The major feature of the invention resides in the fact that the load-supporting element, to surmount the structural opening, maintains, by any given kinematics permitted by rotation, horizontal and vertical sliding, without altering the static conditions; it has constant cross section and is connected to the contiguous elements by elastic fitting so as to produce a hook hinged to one end and a sliding contact at the other end. <IMAGE>
