Abstract

The invention comprises the formulation of an injectable biological product which is capable of stimulating the natural defences of animals, inducing interferons and modulating non-specific cell-mediated immune reactions. The product comprises an RNA-virus, bacterial endotoxins and a macromolecular adjuvant. It is indicated for the control of infections caused in animals subjected to stresses of various kinds: transport, cooling, weaning, changes in diet, overcrowding. The infections caused, which are maintained by opportunistic microrganisms (viruses, bacteria, protozoans, fungi and yeasts), are recurrent in intense animal husbandry and cannot be controlled by standard vaccines or conventional treatment against microorganisms. These derive from complex interactions between ubiquitous microorganisms, animals, the environment, diet, method of raising and are therefore known as "conditioned infections", "multifactor diseases", "opportunistic agent infections", or "crowding diseases".
