Abstract

Receiver for class messages which, in one embodiment, can be incorporated in a digital signal processor. An FSK demodulator receives linear incoming samples of the signal and filters them with a band-pass filter which carries out an excess sampling to increase the sampling rate from 8,000 Hz to 24,000 Hz, resulting in 20 samples at the output of the band-pass filter for each incoming data bit. The amplitude of the signal/samples at the output of the band-pass filter is controlled by an automatic gain control circuit AGC and the resulting samples (referred to for convenience as sample t, in which t is a discrete moment of time) are processed along two different designated paths to estimate the probability of the input signal which encodes a symbol (symbol estimation path) or a space (space estimation path). <IMAGE>
