Per migliorare la resa negli impianti di produzione della melammina, la corrente gassosa di ammoniaca, è inviata ad una colonna di frazionamento multistadio, nella quale detta corrente gassosa viene a contatto in controcorrente con l'urea fusa utilizzata come materia prima per la produzione di melammina. Detta corrente gassosa di ammoniaca è inviata alla colonna di frazionamento ad una temperatura supercritica compresa nell'intervallo da 130°C fino a 160°C, preferibilmente da 138°C a 150°C, mentre la portata è compresa tra i valori da 0,1 fino a 1,0 Nm3 per Kg di urea, e di preferenza da 0,15 a 0,35 Nm3 per Kg di urea.
