Abstract

Electric arc furnace with burners for the melting of steel, said furnace being either of the normal type or the balcony, egg, swamp, channel, or other type, said furnace having a lower containment segment for molten metal, lined with refractory material, and an upper segment cooled by circulating water, having advantageously the vault cooled, said furnace presenting means of blowing oxygen such as tuyeres and/or supersonic lances creating at least three specific zones of oxygen blowing, advantageously having at least one carbon blowing lance, having at least four postcombustion burners, said burners being oriented, in the horizontal plane, tangent to one or more circumferences generating a ring external to the electrodes and enclosing them, said burners operating in said ring by a sequential arrangement, said ring co-operating with the oxygen blowing zones, said burners being tilted toward the molten metal bath by any given angle and being situated at a maximum height relative to the molten metal bath and relative to the upper plane of the slag. <IMAGE>
