Abstract

A total knee prosthesis for construction of the joint between the femur and tibia, comprising a tibial plate 9 which is designed to be fixed to the proximal end of the tibia, a condyloid member 1 designed to be fixed to the distal end of the femur having two portions 2 with the functions of the medial condyle and the lateral condyle of the femur respectively bearing against two menisci 3 of plastics material. The menisci 3 are able to move and rotate within corresponding channels 5 made in an intermediate plate 6 which rests against the tibial plate 9 with an interposed insert 7 having a convex lenticular surface 7a to permit the possibility of lateral and median tilting of the joint. <IMAGE>
