Abstract
To obtain the automatic closure of the toe of the foot of a sock with a circular knitting machine, first of all one makes a bag 20 with as many rows of stitches as are necessary to form the toe of the foot, which are produced with the needles 10 of one half A of the cylinder 1, which is caused to rotate in alternating motion, and whose first row is made by placing the thread 2 on the beak of corresponding rod hooks 3, distributed among the needles 10 inside the cylinder 1, and the subsequent rows are made in traditional manner, that is, with the needles 10 and the corresponding sinkers 12 of the same half A of the cylinder 1, while said first row 20 is held by said hooks 3 in retracted and lifted position relative to the needles 10 that are working.
