Abstract

The present invention relates to a process and equipment for making composite insulators for overhead electrical power lines. The equipment 1 comprises a base structure 6 engaging with a bracket 7a and two half-moulds for injection moulding 8a designed to fix, respectively, a first and a second end 5a, 5b of a central core 3 belonging to an insulator 2. Two half-moulds for forming 9, designed to form a filling enclosure 9c, to be filled with elastomeric material, around the core 3, are engaged with the base structure 6. A load cell 10a and a hydraulic actuator 11a operate between the bracket 7a and the base structure 6 to apply to the central core 3 a mechanical traction capable of opposing the bending of the core under the action of anomalous forces exerted by the elastomeric material during injection. <IMAGE>
