Abstract
A process is described for the preparation of isobutene by dehydroisomerisation of n-butane comprising feeding a gaseous mixture of n-butane and hydrogen, preferably diluted with an inert gas, into a fixed catalytic bed consisting of a first supported catalyst a and a second supported catalyst b, where the said catalyst a is formed of a solid and granular support of porous gamma-alumina on the surface of which are deposited catalytic amounts of platinum and optionally also one or more promoters and the said catalyst b is formed of Boralite B; the said catalysts a and b being homogeneously distributed in the catalytic bed, or being arranged in the form of two contiguous layers.
