Abstract

The current invention refers to a chemical purification procedure for industrial sewage wastewater and similar with elevated COD content, consisting in using a reactive made up of 35% hydrogen peroxide in weight, activated by any type of metal ions, particularly those in transition, and preferably, Fe<2+> ion present as ferrous sulphate heptahydrate, characterised by the fact that the aforementioned reactants are used in the presence of sulphuric acid that acts as catalytic agent for the hydrogen ion concentration. Said concentration is set with a pH between 1.0 and 2.5 and, preferably between 1.5 and 2.0, while the relationship between the 35% hydrogen peroxide and the ferrous sulphate heptahydrate is generally from 0.5 - 2 / 0.5 - 1 and, preferably, 1 / 0.5 with respect to 1 part (weight) of the organic substrate to be treated. The process is furthermore characterised by the fact that it is intermittent, and makes it possible to eventually recover heat from the reaction as well as creating a higher yield of total, present COD (80-90%), corresponding to the contents of anionic tensoactive (90-95%) and the non ionic, isolated tensoactive (95-98%).
