Abstract

In dentists' surgeries, during dental operation phases, it is necessary to carry out a suction process inside the patient's cave of tooth. Suction is necessary because during operations water is sprayed by means of a turbine drill (or through other devices) and because the patient can lose blood. It is therefore necessary to introduce a cannula (or tube) into the patient's mouth in order to suck the fluid, which consists of water, air, blood, saliva and solid components, such as obturation residuals, tooth fragments etc.. Suction must be very efficient both not to cause problems to the patient and in order to create optimal working conditions for the dentist. Since the dentist works while the patient is lying in horizontal position, suction must be even more powerful, reliable and continuous. Currently, only low performance devices such as ejectors, dry suction pumps, and fluid ring suction pumps are used.
