Abstract

The remote maintenance system includes an intelligent terminal for transmitting commands and for receiving and displaying data. Several data switching and transmission units are remotely connected to the intelligent terminal and each includes a maintenance processor for collecting and transmitting data, and for carrying out diagnostic tests. The intelligent terminal may issue instructions to a remote switching and transmission unit in order to carry out specific instructions for diagnostic tests. The results are then returned to the intelligent terminal, and display on a cathode ray tube.
