The door or window lintel comprises a pre-stressed beam over which a screen extends for its entire length. The screen is a thin-walled component of fibre-reinforced concrete, bonded to the beam, which can be of pre-stressed baked clay sections. The screen can have a flange extending from it at right angles, by which it is bonded to the beam, the flange being towards the beam underside, or alternatively towards the top. At the ends of the bea there can be lateral supports, typically of baked clay, also bonded to the screen. Along the bottom of the latter there can be a strip to support plaster or other cladding material.
