Abstract
Oxygen contg. cycloaliphatic cpds. of formula (I) and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts are new: (B and B' are both H or together form a single bond. Q is CO, CHOR or COOR. Y and Y' are each H, halo or A. Each X is H or A. A is CRR.(CR1R2)nR3. n is 1-8. R1 and R2 are each R, OR, carboxy or formyl, or together form CO. R3 is H, COOR, OR, CHR(OR) or COR. c is 0-4. R is H or lower alkyl. At least one A is present and each contains at least one COOR, CHO, CO, OR or COR and not more than one COOH, CO or COR. The ring can contain up to 2 ethylenic bonds). Also new are the bicyclo cpds. of formula (II). (Each M is H, chloro, bromo or iodo). (I) and (II) have antiandrogen activity (they block androgen receptors) and are useful e.g. to treat acne; some forms of cancer (they also increase sensitivity to standard anticancer agents); baldness and keloid formation. Some (II) are also useful as intermediates for (I).
