Abstract

In a (opt. continuous) catalytic process for the mfr. of oximes by reaction, in the liq. phase of the corresponding carbonylic cpds. with ammonia and hydrogen peroxide the catalyst (pref. 1-500 per kg of carbonylic cpd.) substantially consists of a crystalline material with a zeolite structure contg. silicon and titanium and is subjected, before use, to an activating treatment with hydrogen peroxide (and opt. H2SO4). The activation is pref. carried out using an aq. soln. of hydrogen peroxide (pref. contg. at least 10 parts by wt. of ammonia per 100 parts soln.), in the presence of at least 0.5 equivs. per litre of an acid with a pK equal to or lower than 5, pref. selected from sulphuric, phosphoric, nitric acid and hydrogen chloride. The catalyst is substantially a titanium silicate (Si:Ti atomic ratio at least 30), (opt. in admixture with an inert binder) prepd. in the presence of hydrogen peroxide, and pref. mfd. by hydrothermal synthesis and submitted, before activation to a thermal treatment at a temp. equal to or lower than 430 deg.C, pref. equal to or lower than 130 deg.C. The carbonylic cpd. is selected from cyclohexane (pref.) actone, methyl ethyl ketone, acetophenone, cyclododecanone, enanthic aldehyde and benzaldehyde.
