Abstract
The L-isomer of N-n-propylpipecolic and -2,6-xylidide (I) and its water-soluble salts are new. (I) is prepd. by N-propylation of the L-isomer of pipecolic and -2,6-xylidide (II) e.g. using a propyl halide such as the bromide. (II) may be prepd. from L-pipecolic and chloride hydrochloride (III) and 2,6-xylidine. (III) is prepd. by resolving pipecolic and, using (+)-tartaric acid, and then chlorinating the L-pipecolic and hydrochloride obtd.
