Abstract

A power-transmitting toothed belt for a pulley drive has an inner layer with embedded longitudinal stranded wires and an adjacent layer from which the teeth extend outwards. Each tooth is slit inwards along the middle line; the teeth are made of elastic material and, when they engage the pulley, they are each pressed together so that the slit becomes largely closed.
