Abstract

Compsns. contg. a carboxymethyl cellulose salt of an aminoacid (I) are new. The pref. aminoacid is L-histidine, the molar ratio between it and CMC being 0.5:1 to 2:1. Used as protecting agents against stomach disorders (e.g. hyperacidity) and stomach ulcers. The compsns. are effective buffers, have a rapid and prolonged effect, do not cause a 'rebound' effect of increased acidity after initial neutralisation, and are free from sec. effects after long-term admin.
