Abstract

The roller blind has an actuating mechanism by which the roll shaft may either be rotated or locked in position. The mechanism comprises a fixed hub and a rotating hub, the latter being attached to the blind shaft and equipped with a compressed elastic element which pushes a friction face on the rotating hub into contact with a friction face on the fixed hub. The actuating pulley encompasses the two hubs and has an inner face with cam surfaces which, under a rotary action, cause ball bearings to work against the pressure exerted by the elastic element and lift the two friction faces apart so that the rotating hub can then rotate freely. The friction faces pref. offer a radially decreasing cross-sectional clearance so that the action of pushing the bearings inwards forces the two faces apart. The actuating mechanism enables the roller blind to be locked in any position and also to be extended or withdrawn without having to overcome any frictional forces in the locking device.
