Abstract
A compsn. for inhibiting scale formation in a reverse osmosis water purification system comprises 0.05-1 pt. polyacrylic acid of mol.wt. 1,000-10,000 and 1-0.05 pts. phytic acid. The compsn. provides 0.01-20 ppm of each when diluted for use. The combination is synergistic, and retards formation of calcium magnesium and iron based scale.
