Abstract

Ethanolamines of formula (I) are new. In (I), R is 1-4C alkyl; R1 is 1-3C alkyl; R2 is phenylamine or 5-6C cycloalkylamine opt. carrying a phenyl or cyclohexyl substit., or is 1-piperazinyl which is 4-substd. by cinnamoyl or cinnamyl, the cinnamoyl or cinnamyl in turn being opt. substd. in its 3,4 and/or 5 position by 1, 2 or 3 MeO, EtO, OH, NH2 and/or NO2 gps. (I) are active against blood platelet aggregation and lipaemia, and they improve cerebral circulation. In tests, the cpds. (a) inhibited ADP- or collagen-induced blood platelet aggregation in rats, (b) exhibited spasmolytic activity on isolated rat intestines, (c) inhibited norepinephrine-induced contractions of the deferens, (d) inhibited contractions of isolated rat aorta, (e) decreased or annulled the rise of cholesterol, triglycerides, total lipids and phospholipids in rats treated with Triton, (f) increased high density lipoprotein in rats (corresp. to an atheroma-preventing effect in man), and (g), when used in threo-form, extended the time of resistance to anoxia of mice maintained in an atmos. which was virtually devoid of O2.
