Abstract
An extruded plastics foam material with flame retardancy contains not more than 5 wt.%, pref. 1-2 wt.% pentabromochloro-cyclohexane (I). A low density, extruded, plastics foam material with flame retardancy, for insulating ducts, comprises a crystalline or amorphous thermoplastic, esp. l.d. polyethylene, 2-7 wt.% styrene-butadiene block copolymer, 0.3-10 wt.% nucleating agent, 1-2 wt.% (I), 01.-1.5 wt.% lubricant, 0.3-0.4 wt.% ethylene-bis-N,N'-stearylamide (II) and 10-19 wt.% blowing agents. The compsns. have better flame retardancy than prior art compsns. and less flame propagation speed and smoke density (ASTM E S4-75). They are for heat and sound insulation, packaging, padding, furniture components and building components.
