Abstract
A pharmaceutical compsn. for skin application contains 2-n-hexyl-oxybenzamide (I) as an effective component and C6-20 fatty acid (II) in the liq. form at ordinary temp. and/or polyoxyethylene alkyl ether (III) as a solvent. (I) has an anti-bacterial activity specific for Trichophyton. The compsn. is highly effective for treatment of athlete's foot without significant side-effect. (II) is a (un)satd. opt. branched fatty acid e.g. isostearic, oleic, linoleic, linolenic, arachidonic, caproic or enanthic acid. (III) is POE(2) lauryl ether, POE(9) lauryl ether or POE(25) lauryl ether, preferably. The compsn. contains not less than 1% wt. of (II) and/or (III), partic. 5-10%wt. of (II) and/or 1-5 % wt.of (III). The compsn. pref. contains both (II) and (III). The compsn. may be prepd. conventionally by mixing and dissolving 1 pbw of (I) into either 0.2-2 of (II) or (III), pref. 1-2 pbw of (II) or 0.2-1 pbw of (III) in the case of single use of (II) or (III) as a solvent, or 0.2-2 pwb of (II) and (III), respectively, pref. 1-2 pbw of (II) and 0.2-1 pbw of (III) in the case of using together (II) and (III) as solvent. The compsn. is pref. in the form of a soln. or an ointment.
