Abstract

An injection moulding method for thermoplastics, comprising the successive stages of filling, pressure-holding and cooling, is as follows. After the mutually communicating cavities of the mould have been filled and during the pressure-holding time and cooling time, the thermoplastics is kept at 40-50 deg.C above its melt temp. and is simultaneously forced at 900-3000 kp/cm2 pressure through the mould, until the entire quantity has been converted to the solid stage. The inner surfaces of the mould are then cooled down through -20 deg. to approx. the melt temp. While the pressure is raised, the cross-section of the outlet from the mould cavities is reduced and the temperature in these zones is increased. Pref., a pressure of 900-1400 kp/cm2 is used and the mould surfaces are cooled to between -20 and +60 deg.C. By holding the after-pressure in this way, the strength of the resultant product is increased by 2-5 times.
