Abstract
A side of meat which is initially suspended from one hook is transferred to another hook by a travelling arm. A head at the remote end of the arm has two movable spikes which are initially parallel and pushed into the meat by the advancing arm. Once inside the meat, the arms are moved to grip the meat, while the arm is raised to unhook the meat. The arm carries the meat to a second hook so that the spikes sandwich it. The arm is lowered, the spikes returned to their parallel orientation and the arm is withdrawn. The appts. transfers meat from a hook inside a vehicle, to a hook in a warehouse.
