Abstract
Plastic sheet or tape with a rough surface on one face and adhesive coating on the other face is applied to package or boxes to reduce risk of sliding, e.g. when stacked. The tape is derived from extruded tubular sheet or film which is subsequently slit and coated with a pressure sensitive or a melt adhesive. The adhesive may be applied to the back of the tape either just before use or prior to reeling together with a supporting release paper where appropriate. The release paper may be perforated at intervals for removal in sections. The surface roughness may be a coarse matt surface or due to a pattern of fine straight or herringbone ribs.) The rough sheet may be used to enclose or to cover parts, e.g. top and bottom faces, of smooth plastic or cardboard bags, boxes etc. The tape may also act as an adhesive tape to seal or secure the wrappings of the package.
