Abstract

The railway safety system makes use of current intensity to afford protection from collisions even where traffic is heavy. A dc generator (G) and rotating impulse relay turn the polarity from the generator on two hemicycles in each train, with identical ammeters on both, and compensating resistances. Fixed installations comprise a wire parallel to the track, with one-way current flow, and set resistance per length unit, engaged by two pantographs (10, 11) or other contacts, for closing a resistance lead section and both hemicycles on the same track. a cycle is produced for two trains in one sequence, comprising one front and one rear hemicycle when they are going the same way, or both front hemicycles when they are approaching each other.
