Abstract
A valve includes a relatively rigid core element extending pref. transversely across a duct and flexible sheath surrounding the core element. The tensions in the sheath continuously hold it against the core element. By moving (e.g. rotating) the core element relative to the sheath, the sheath is caused to open or close-off the duct. The core element may be coated in polytetrafluoroethylene and the sheath may be of an elastomer. The valve may be used for radiators, chemical or hygienic installations. It has few moving parts and is not easily contaminated.
