Abstract

The typewriter for Japanese and Chinese characters has independent keyboards controlling axially displaceable printing rods to apply pressure to the paper on the rotatable reel through a movable inking ribbon. The printing ends of these rods are guided and positioned to form the outline of required Chinese characters. Keyrods actuated by the keys of the Japanese keyboard have the required characters mounted on their ends. The rods are pref. guided by openings in a displaceable screen and then by guide bores in a stationary hood. The printing rod moves axially under spring influence from below a top wall of the hood to a position slightly above, with the screen moving to return the rods when the character is complete.
