Abstract
Propellant comrpises a mixt. of (A) propane, n-butane, isobutane, n-pentane or isopentane; (B) CF3Br, CF2BrCl, or 1,1,2,2-tetrafluoro-1,2-dibromoethane; and opt. (C) a fluorocarbon or chlorofluorocarbon such as CGF2Cl, CH2FCl, 1,1,2-trifluoroethane, 1,1,1-trifluoroethane, 1,1,2,2-tetrasfluoroethane, 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane, 1,1-difluoroethane, 1,1,1-trifluoro-2,2-dichloroethane, 1,1,2,2-tetrafluoro-1-chloroethane, 1,1,1-trifluoro-2-chloroethane, 1,1,2-trifluoro-2-chloroethane or 1,1-difluoro-1-chloroethane. A pref. propellant mixt. contains 40-70 wt. % (esp. 50-60 wt. %) A and 60-30 wt. % (50-40 wt.% ) B; or 20-40 wT. % A, 10-25 wt. % B and 40-70 wt. % (C), such that if component A is present in an amt. of 35-40 wt. %, the wt. ratio hydrocarbon propellant/s) to halohydrocarbon propellant(s) is is not >2.5. Propellant mixt. have improved solubility characteristics to the active materials in the aerosol and a reduced risk of ignition and fire, e.g. during use of in incidental leakage of the cans during storage.
