Abstract

A process for shearing materials such as board, paper, plastic containers and other extraneous materials. The material is loaded onto a conveyor on which it is carried to a system of cutting blades. It is subjected to a scissor-like action between at least one blade and at least one counter-blade, which imparts cutting and shearing to the material. One of the blades is moved in the direction of movement of the conveyor while the counter-blade remains stationary. The process gives a means of tearing boards and other paper materials, which contain extraneous matter such as plastic materials, without crushing the extraneous materials as occurs in prior art methods. This provides the advantage of requiring a lower power consumption and it also reduces the possibility of obstruction and breakage of blades during the process.
