Abstract
Disclosed are a load balancing method and system for a multi band network. When a terminal enters an idle state an access state or a service state and a base station determines that a sector where the terminal is located is under multi band coverage the load situation of frequency bands in the sector is recorded; and when the base station determines according to the recorded load situation of the frequency bands in the sector that a preset idle state condition access state condition or service state condition is met the base station performs load balancing control on the terminal. Embodiments of the present invention implement load balancing for a multi band network on terminals in an idle state an access state and a service state.
