A method of controlling a compressor, the method comprising: regulating the discharge capacity of the compressor by means of a control current that is supplied to a control device; holding the control current supplied to the control device at substantially 0 Amps for a first time period (1); and stepping the control current from 0 Amps up to a minimum value that provides a sustainable level of a performance parameter of the compressor.
