Description

SPECIAL GLASSES AND SUNGLASSES FOR THE USE OF BICYCLE AND MOTORCYCLE RIDERS SPECIAL GLASSES AND SUNGLASSES FOR THE USE OF BICYCLE AND MOTORCYCLE RIDERS BACKGROUND The purpose of this invention is to solve a problem which exists with people who wear glasses or sunglasses and ride sports/racing bicycles or motorcycles which involve a forward leaning position.
As illustrated in Fig.l, a forward leaning rider not wearing any kind of glasses or'eye protection, can maintain a good view of the road ahead by raising his eyes higher than usual. However, when wearing glasses or sunglasses and holding his head and eyes in the same position (see Fig.2) he will find that the lenses cover only the lower part of his field of vision, with the top part of the frame obstructing the view in the middle and no lenses at all at the top part of his field of vision. Using the only way he can to improve forward view, the rider will raise his head even higher a3 in Fig.3 in order to bring the lenses in front of his eyes.
Obviously, this position bends the neck into a most uncomfortable angle as indicated by the arrow, causing strain and pain after a short time, and even worse consequences for people who already suffer from neck problems.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION This invention, as illustrated in Fig.4 provides a possibility to raise the lenses of the glasses or sunglasses in front of the eyes at the correct optical angle, while maintaining a low head position, therefore allowing a perfect view ahead without overstraining the neck.
The invention can be best described in reference to the attached drawings 5, 6 and 7.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Fig.5 is a side view of the glasses with the lenses raised to the high position, the broken line depicting the lenses in the low position.
Fig.6 illustrates the glasses with the lenses in the high position .
Fig.7 illustrates the glasses with the lenses in the low position.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION The invention shall be herein described with reference to the attached drawings 5, 6 and 7.
In the preferred embodiment, these are normal looking glasses with a frame made of plastic, metal or both,' in which a sub-frame 1 carries the two seperate lenses or one large lens, as the case may be with sunglasses. Sub-frame 1 is attached through hinges 2 & 3 to connecting arms 4 & 5 which pivot on swivels 6 & 7 mounted on arms 8 & 9. Said swivels 6 & 7 having friction, spring, or ratchet devices so that sub-frame 1 could be set at the desired angle in relation to the eyes. Arms 8 &. 9 are hinged to another sub-frame 10 through hinges 11 & 12, said sub-frame 10 incorporating the nose bridge 13.
As . illustrated in Fig.7, when sub-frame 1 is in the lowest position, hinges 2 & 3 align with hinges 11 & 12 respectively, to facilitate folding of arms 8 & 9 in the usual way.
Sub-frame 1 can be secured in the lowest position by notches 14 & 15 and matching protrusions 16 & 17, or any other system if needed.
