Description
COLLAPSABLE CONTAINER "73ΡΠΤ3 "PD'tD This invention relates to a container for storing liquids, power etc., exhibiting them for sale and selling them to the final consumer. More particularly the invention concerns a container which prior to reaching the consumer is at a reduced or collapsed state in which is contained a liquid of concentrated type or a powderous crystalline, solid preparation for making liquids. Such a container is preferable to customary full size containers of beverages, since it requires less space during transport from a place of making and filling to the location of sale, is of lighter weight and requires less storage space at the retail outlet and is also more convenient to the consumer who had an easily handable and lighter load to convey to the consumer's place of stay.
According to the invention, the new container consist of a bottle or can like structure having circumferentially extending folds resulting in a bellows or concertina like appearance, means being provided to maintain the container in collapsed state, the container having an outlet port and sealing means therefore.
In a preferred embodiment a sealing or closing means has conductively attached thereto a pliable conduit reaching near to the bottom of the container when that is fully erected.
These and further features of the invention will become clear from the following detailed description and the appended drawings.
In the drawings: Fig. 1 shows the new container in collapsed eleygtional view, Fig. 2 being the same container, equipped with an outlet arrangement suited for gaseous beverages.
Fig. 3 is the container of Fig. 1 in fully erected state, and Fig. 4 the container of Fig. 2 in fully erected state.
Turning first to Figs. 1 and 2, the new containers, roughly of bottle shape and made of pliable and springy plastics are designated by reference numeral 1. Such containers are fabricated by conventional methods and have circumferentially extending folds 2 which give them a bellows- or concertina like appearance, the outflow from container 1.
At the place of preparing the mass (liquid or solid) to be filled into a container, a concentrated liquid for making a beverage or other preparation is placed in the container, the latter is collapsed or compressed and that state is secured by putting strap 3 and collar 5 in position. Obviously the mass filled into the container 1 may be also a dissolvable powder or crystalline mass or a solid in whatever form.
The ultimate consumer of the article, cuts the strap 3, so allowing the container to expand and erect whereupon water or another solvent is filled in resulting in a potable beverage or other ready for use liquid preparation.
Fig. 3 shows the container in the state referred to in the preceding paragraph. The strap 3 has been severed and the container has expanded.
/ According to Fig. 2, the cap 7 is made integral with an outlet &BSU.t_,8 which is 1n connection with a pliable pipe or hose 9 held in the collapsed container 1. In the expanded position of the container, according to Fig. 4, the pipe 9 is uncoiled" and extends to near the bottom of the container. In a well known manner, a pressure on cap 7, with the container 1 firmly placed on a plane surface , say a table top, liquid will be ejected from s^out^ It can easily be seen that the new container offers the advantages over customary glass, plastics or metal bottles or cans.
While by way of example the container is of bottle like design, it may be of other shape, say that of a cylindrical can, such as customary for beer and other beverages. b
