Description
ELECTRIC HEATING PANEL FOR CEILINGS The present invention concerns an electric heati¾ panel for ceilings, to be used in private homes, schools, factories or the like.
There is known a heating system for ceilings in which heating elements are held against the ceiling b brackets or the like, whereaf er plaster is applied to said ceiling to imbed said heating elements therein and simultaneously to provide a finish to the ceiling.
This system is expensive and requires the destruction of the entire plaster of the ceiling, etc. in order to find a malfunction in the system.
It is the object of the present invention to provide heating for ceilings in the form of panels which can be mounted thereto quickly and can be exchanged when required without requiring damage to the appearance of the ceiling.
The present invention consists in an electric heating panel for ceilings comprising a base, a heating element placed on said base and connected thereto by means of a gypsum layer cast thereon and at least one layer of insulating material, means being provided to mount said panel to the ceiling.
The base may be of reinforced gypsum or it may be of ceramic material or the like.
The invention is illustrated, by way of example only, in the accompanying drawings wherein: Fig. 1 shows a heating panel according to the invention in cross-section together with one embodiment of the mounting means therefor to the ceiling; Fig. 2 is a similar view showing a second of a mounting means.
According to Pig. 1 the heating panel comprises a reinforced gypsum plate 1 , of the1 kind which is supplied for use as a finish for ceiling and walls. The heating element 2 which is made of resistance wire of suitable diameter and is suitably insulated is placed in the known manner either in straight lines side by side and connected in parallel at the end§, or in snake-like form onto base 1, whereafter a layer of gypsum is cast on said base. Said .. layer is of a thickness of 3 - 5 mm and embeds the resistance wire. On top of said layer 3 one or more insulating layers 4 of rockwool or other known insulating material is provided. The heating panel, herein described is supplied in any desired standard size.
According to Fig. 1 the panel is provided with a channel profile frame 5. This frame may be of metal, plastics or wood, as desired.
The finished panel is provided with through-going apertures 6 through which bolts 7, with the interposition of a washer 8, extend. The ceiling 9 is provided with nuts 10 at suitable spacings into which said bolts are screwed.
It c an be seen that the mounting and removal of said panels can be easily effected.
In Fig. 2 the panel is of the same construction as that described in Fig. 1, but it is not provided with a frame 5. Instead, angle profiles 11 are mounted on the ceiling to which profiles L-shaped strips 12 are adapted to be screwed at 13 so that the dependent leg 14 of profile 12 pl, 49418 2 - 3 - ¾ΙΘ invention is not limited to the mounting means above described* It is within the scope of the present invention to make base plate 1 of ceramics or the like materials, e.g. marble* In the case where the material of the base plate 1 is not electrically insulating, the wire 2 must be covered with suitable electrically Insulating material* which does not impair the heat-conducting effect. Furthermore, it is possible to place the base together with the gypsum layer and included hosting element upside - down relative to the order of placement shown in Pigs* 1 and 2, the insulating layer or layers being placed on top of the base*
Claims (7)
