Description

A trickle Irrigation device has been described 1n our earlier Patent o. 4o838.
Tlie present invention concerns an improvement of the device according to that earlier Patent.
As has been stated, the device according to our said earlier patent comprises a sleeve, which 1s lengthwise slotted and 1s held In closed position on a hose by means of a C-profiled rail slipped on two flanges flanking the slot In the sleeve. The Inner face of iie sleeve 1s grooved, thus providing a narrow, lengthened conduit from which water enlarges dropwlsa or in the form of a slow trickle.
It Is obvious that the slotted sleeve as described in the earlier specification and shown in the drawings thereto will fit a hose of a certain fixed diameter. In other words -fl.'ifor different sizes of nose, different sleeves have to be provided.
It is the object of this invention to provide a sleeve and clamping rail which will fit different diameters of hose, so that -within l imits - the same sleeve can be used on hoses of different diameter.
According to the Invention - therefore - there is provided a device for drip or trickle irrigation comprising a tubular member of stiff, but flexible material , which is axlally slotted and which at its Inner face is provided with a lengthened spiral If wound or meandering or to and fro extending groove Including a multitude of bends, the said tubul ar member having two longitudinal ly extending flanges flanking the axlal ly extending slot, a clamp feeing provided In the form of a rail the longitudinal edges of the rail ei ng profiled to bs adapted to engage the said longitudinal flanges characterised thereby that the set of sleeve and clamping rail comprises two or more rails of arcuate profile, of different width.
With a set as indicated above the same sleeve may be used on different hoses of different diameter.
The invention will now be described in the following with references to the annexed drawing showing a drip or trickle device according to the invention, in a cross sectional view. ^ A rubber or plastic hose 1 1s enclosed for part of its length in a sleeve 2. The sleeve 2 is made of flexible material. At Its inner face a tortuous passage is created by a to and fro extending groove 3. An aperture 4 leads from the interior of the hose 1 into groove 3.
TiiQ s eeve 2 is ax1a1l# slotted at 5. As has been stated, It is made of flexible raterlal and can be bent, so rendering the axial slot wider or narrov/ar. Consequently tha sleeve can b2 set on hoses of different diameters.
The slot at 5 Is flanked by two lengthwise extending flanges 6.
With each sleeve several rails 7 can bs supplied, each having bent over longitudinal edges 8 forming channels into which the flanges 6 can enter. Thus one has onl^ to choose a rail of appropriate width in order to hold a sleeve 2 on a specific hose.
Obviously the sleeve with its flanges β close to one another forms a circular tube; on bending 1t open the circle is deformed. However, since the material of the sleeve is flexible and the rail 7 is of arcuate profile, the sleeve and rail assembly again assumes a circular cross section when enclosing a hose. Attaining a close fit of the sleeve on the hose 1s assisted thereby that the hose is yielding and will adapt Itself to the shape of the sleeve.
