Claims (1)
1. What is claimed is. 1, A process for preparing -hydroxythiochromans having the formula wherein R and represent alkyl groups having from 1 to k carbon atoms or halogen and m and n represent integers from 0 to 3 preferably from 0 to 2, provided that not more than one of the radicals R and is halogen, which comprises catalytically reducing thiochromanones having the formula with hydrogen in an inert organic solvent in the presence of nickel catalysts, at temperatures of from +20° to 100°C.
