Claims (6)

CLAIMS :
1. A method of harvesting fruit which comprises applying to the fruit a protective coating of foamed plastic, allowing the foam to harden to a sufficient degree, and mechanically harvesting the fruit.
2. A method, as claimed in Claim 1 , wherein the foam is a foam obtained from an urea-formaldehyde pre-condensate of molar ratio of from about 1:1.5 to 1:2.0.
3. A method as claimed in Claims 1 or 2, wherein the plastic foam has a density of from 8 kg/m to 80 kg/rn^.
4. A method as claimed in Claim 3t wherein the foam has a density of from 8 to 30 kg/m'.
5. A method as claimed in any of Claims 1 to 4, wherein the plastic foam has an average thickness of about 1 - 2 cm.
6. A method for reducing damage to fruit during mechanical harvesting, substantially as hereinbefore described and with reference to the
