Abstract
1409934 Grass growth regulant NIPPON SODA CO Ltd 12 Nov 1973 [24 Nov 1972] 52357/73 Heading C1B [Also in Division C2] Agents for regulating the growth of plants (e.g. for inhibiting the growth of lawn grasses and new buds) are novel compounds of Formula IV wherein R 1 is C 1-6 alkyl or phenyl; R 2 is C 2-6 alkyl or phenyl; R 3 is C 1-10 alkyl, C 2-6 alkenyl or C 2-6 alkynyl; R is C 1-20 alkyl, phenyl or phenyl substituted by a halogen, methyl, methoxy or -NO 2 group; and A is -CO- or -SO 2 -.

Claims (11)
1. what is claim is: 1. A compound of the formula wherein is alkyl having from 2 to 6 carbon atoms or phenyl; R2 is alkyl having from 2 to 6 carbon atoms or phenyl; R3 is alkyl having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms or alkenyl having six or less carbon atoms or alkynyl having six or less carbon atoms; R is alkyl having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms^ or phenyl or phenyl substituted with halogen, methyl, methoxy" or nitro group; A is carbonyl or sulfonyl.
2. A compound according to claim 1 in which R^ and R2 are alkyl having from 2 to 3 carbon atoms, R3 is ethyl or allyl, R is phenyl or phenyl substituted with chlorine, methyl, methoxy or nitro where A is carbonyl, or R is methyl, phenyl or phenyl substituted with chlorine, methyl or methoxy where A is sulfonyl.
3. A compound according to claim 1 in which Ri , R2 and R3 are ethyl, R is phenyl and A is carbonyl.
4. A compound according to claim 1 in which j_ , R2 and R3 are ethyl, R is 4-chlorphenyl and A is carbonyl.
5. A compound according to claim 1 in which R^ , R2 and R3 are ethyl, R is methyl and A is sulfonyl.
6. A herbicidal composition comprising an effective amount of the compound of the formula I wherein R^ is alkyl having from 2 to 6 carbon atoms or phenyl; ^ R2 is alkyl having from 2 to 6 carbon atoms or phenyl; 3 is alkyl having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms or alkenyl having six or less carbon atoms or alkynyl having six or less carbon atoms; R is alkyl having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms or phenyl or phenyl substituted with halogen^, methyl, methoxy or nitro group; A is carbonyl or sulfonyl. 12. Method of combating undesired plant growth which comprises applying to the area of cultivation a herbicidally effective amount of a compound of claim 2. 13. A process for the production of a compound of the formula wherein ^ ^s alkyl having from 2 to 6 carbon atoms or phenyl; 2 is alkyl having from 2 to 6 carbon atoms or phenyl; R3 is alkyl having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms or alkenyl having six or less carbon atoms or alkynyl having six or less carbon atoms; R is alkyl having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms or phenyl or phenyl substituted with halogen^, methyl, methoxy or nitro group; A is carbonyl pr sulfonyl, which comprises reacting a compound of the formula wherein is alkyl having 2 to 6 carbon atoms or phenyl? R2 is alkyl having from 2 to 6 carbon atoms or phenyl ; R3 is alkyl having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms or alkenyl having six or less carbon atoms or alkynyl having six or less carbon atoms; R is alkyl having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms or phenyl or ·. . , phenyl substituted with halogene, methyl, methoxy or nitro group; A is carbonyl or sulfonyl.
7. A herbicidal composition comprising an effective amount of the compound of claim 2.
8. A plant growth regulating composition conprising an effective amount of the compound of claim 1.
9. A lawn growth regulating composition comprising an effective amount of the compound of claim 1.
10. A fungicidal composition comprising an effective amount of the compound of claim 1.
11. Method of combating undesired plant growth which comprises applying to the area of cultivation a herbicidally effective amount of a compound of the formula R-A-0 N-O-R3 - 30 - 43604/2 wherein R , R2 and R3 represent the aforesaid meanings, with a compound of the formula R-A-X wherein R and A represent the afor,esaid meanings and X is halogen atom. 14. A process for the production of a compound of the formula wherein R^ is alkyl having from 2 to 6 carbon atoms or phenyl; R2 is alkyl having from 2 to 6 carbon atoms or phenyl; R is alkyl having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms or alkenyT having six or less carbon atoms or alkynyl having six or less carbon atoms; , R is alkyl having 1 to 20 carbon atoms or phenyl or phenyl substituted with halogen , methyl, methoxy or nitro group; A is carbonyl · which comprises reacting a compound of the formula wherein R]_ , R2 and R3 represent the aforesaid meanings, with a compound of the formula 3' 0 II R-C o R-C II o wherein R represent the aforesaid meanings.
