Description
Bottle Cap The present invention relates to bottle caps an object of the invention being to provide a bottle cap which may be used for a ase in addition to normal More the present invention aims to provide a bottle cap aonstruction which may also be used as an amusement device or According to a broad aspect of the present there is provided a bottle cap including a socket for receiving the mouth of a bottle to be capped characterized in that the bottle cap is formed with recesses and projections enabling a plurality of like bottle caps to be assembled together blocks by inserting a projection of one bottle cap into a recess of another like bottle According to the preferred embodiments of the invention described the cap is a flat plastic member having the socket formed on one and the recesses and projections formed along its peripheral J According to a further aspect of the the flat plastic member is formed with an annular rib on the face thereof opposite to that of said socket and dimensioned to be received within the socket of another like bottle According to a still further the flat plastic member is further formed with a plurality of blind holes in one or both faces for the reception of hat s of recesses and projections may be several of which are described below for purposes of The invention is herein by way of example with reference to the accompanying 1 is a perspective view of one form of bottle cap constructed in accordance with the 2 is a perspective view illustrating the lower face of the bottle cap of 1 5 are side and of the bottle cap of and 2 6 is a sectional view ong lines of 7 is an enlarged fragmentary view of a portion of the bottle cap of 8 illustrates how a plurality of the bottle caps of raay be assembled like building are plan views illustrating additional illustrating a still further configuration and 13 is a plan iew a still further configuration of bottle cap in accordance withtthe Referring first to here is shown a bottle cap 2 constructed in accordance with the invention used in its normal to cap the mouth of a bottle As shown in the bottle cap is flat plastic member formed on one face with an annular groove 6 Which serves the socket for capping the The opposite face of cap 2 is formed with a plurality being of embossments 8 dimensioned to be received within the socket 6 of another like bottle and to engage the inner surface of the socket for frictionally holding the two caps a plurality of blind holes 12 are formed on both faces of the bottle cap the confines of recess 6 and ribs it being seen from 6 that none of these holes pass completely the These blind are adapted to receive further assembly elements plastic straws 20 described with reference to when the caps are uaed as building The peripheral edges of the bottle cap 2 are ormed with recesses and projections enabling a as building by inserting a projection one bottle cap into of another like the bottle cap of is of rectangular more of square and includes a projection in the form of a pin and a recess in the of a groove l6 on each of its four Pin 14 of one cap is adapted to be into groove 16 of another like cap for assembling a plurality of such caps together as shown in In each of the four edges Includes a plurality of grooves these being adapted to additional assembly elements particularly the plastic straws 20 in when assembling a plurality of caps The plastic straws 20 which may be of two are adapted to be received within blind holes of the bottle cap as well as within the shallow recesses In they dapted to be within the deeper In order to promote a the latter recesses may be provided with protuberances as shown in the enlarged fragmentary view of The manner of using the novel bottle cap of will be apparent from the above description and particularly the bottle cap may be used for its the recesses as as formed on the edges of the bottle cap serve the of knurled edges facilitating the insertion and of the cap from the The foregoing recesses and pins in to and blind holes enable a plurality the bottle caps to be assembled toy her as shown particularly i In one bottle cap 2a is joined to another cap 2b the embossments 8 of cap 2a the annular socket 6 of cap In cap 2b is joined to caps 2c 2d by inserting the pin 14 one deep recess 16 the mating Gap 2e is similarly joined to caps Pins l4 and recesses 16 thus enable the caps to assembled together a common Recesses 16 and blind holes enable the caps to be assembled together in parallel planes by the use of the plastic the four caps are joined a common plane by the pins 14 and recesses and are also joined to the plane of caps by the use of straws 20 passing through recesses 16 for of the two planes of Such an assembly Bay be reinforced by the use of shorter straws 20 passing through the blind openings of the In this a long straw 20 passes parallel to the plane of the through a deep recess 16 o one cap and through one of the shallow recesses 18 formed in the edge of cap the cap being at angles to the plane of the cap Thus an almost endless number of possible arrangements are provided for assembling the Illustrate different configurations of bottle caps and arrangements of recesses add projections to enable them to be assembled together like building the bottle cap 102 in also of square shape but includes two pins on two opposite edges of the and two deep recesses 116 on the other two opposite edges of the The cap is otherwise the same astthat namely the shallow recesses 118 on all the the embossments 108 adapted to seat into the annular socket of another and the holes In the bottle cap 202 is of polygonal in this case The pins 214 are formed on the Junctures alternating sides the deep recesses 216 are formed on the of the alternating the would include three pins 214 and three deep reeesses shallow recesses or but the deep recesses 216 may be used for the same The cap 202 of 10 Includes annular rib instead of the protuberances receivin the socket of another like and further includes blind holes 212 and 213 for receiving the In cap 302 of the interengaging projections and formed on the edges of the cap are constituted bp ribs and recesses As the ribs 314 are formed on sides the the on the remaining two opposite arrangements could of course be In dap includes the annular rib 308 for the bottle engaging and also the blind openings 312 for receiving the Further elongated blind openings 313 be as The bottle cap 402 illustrated in 12 and 12a is also of substantially square but in this case the interengaging projections and recesses are in form of elongated ribs 4l4 formed along oppseite edges of the and elongated recesses 4l6 along the remaining two opposite The cap also includes the annular rib 408 in the socket and blind openings In the cap 502 of the interengaging recesses and projections are constituted by alteunating ridges and valleys 516 formed along peripheral edges of the The cap further includes the annular rib for receiving the socket of another like and the blind openings 512 for receivin the straws blind openings may be provided within the 5l4 also for receiving the The proJeastions and recesses formed on the peripheral edges of the besides being used for assembling caps together and for facilitating grippin of the cap when applying and removing same from the may also be used to firmly secure the cap on the bottle by receiving the wires of a fastening element having a ring encircling the of the similar to a champagne It will also be appreciated that the cap configurations particularly that of may be used simple building apart from their Many other variations and arrangements may be insufficientOCRQuality
