Claims (3)

1. CLAIMS 1. lA process for preparing blends of dispersion and extender resinsl suitable for use in preparing plastisols and organosols, said r°cess comprising the steps of: (a) admixing an aqueous latex comprising a continuous aqueous phase in which there are dispersed a plurality of particles of a vinyl chloride dispersion resin optionally comprising a minor proportion of one or more comonomers, said dispersion resin particles having an average diameter in the range of from about 0.1 to about 3.0 microns and a relative viscosity of from 1.5 to about 3.5, with a plurality of particles of a vinyl chloride extender resin, optionally comprising a minor proportion of one or more comonomers said vinyl chloride extender resin particles having an average diameter in the range of from about 5 to about 60 microns and a relative viscosity of from about 1.5 to about 3.5, said extender resin particles being admixed with said dispersion resin particles while in the form of either a dry powder or a wet cake having a moisture content of from about 5 to about 25$, by weight; the wet blend resulting from step (a) having a total resin solids content in the range of from about 30 to about 7 $, by weight, of which from about 30 to about 99$* by weight, is dispersion resin particles and from about χΐ to about70$, by weight, is extender resin particles; and, (b) drying the wet blend of dispersion and extender resin particles resulting from step (a) under non-coagulating conditions so as to obtain said blend in the form of a 40702/2 2. The process of Claim 1, wherein the average, diameter of said dispersion resin particles is about one micron. 3. The process of Claim 1, wherein the average diameter of said extender resin particles is aliout JO microns. . The process of Claim 1, wherein the relative viscosity of said dispersion resin particles is about 2.5. 5. The process of Claim 1, wherein the relative viscosity of said extender resin particles is about 2.5. • 6. The process of Claim 1, wherein the total resin solids of the wet blend resulting from step (a) is about 6O/0, by weight. 7. The process of Claim 1, wherein the mixture of 'dispersion and extender resin particles in the wet blend result-ing from step (a) contains about 0 ; by weight, of dispersion resin particles and about 6C$, by weight, of extender resin particles . 8. The process of' Claim 1, wherein step (b) is carried out by drying the wet blend resulting from step (a) in a spray dryer. 9· The process of Claim 1, wherein said dispersion resin particles comprise particles of a vinyl chloride homopolymer. 40702/2 10. The process of Claim 1, wherein said extender resin particles comprises particles of a vinyl chloride homopolym 11. The dry blend of dispersion and extender resin particles resulting from the process of Claim 1. 12. A composition comprising a suspension in at least one plasticizer, of the dry blend of dispersion and extender resin particles resulting from the process of Claim 1. 13· A dry blend comprising a mixture of (l) a plurality of particles of a vinyl chloride dispersion resin said dispersion resin particles having an average diameter in the range of from about 0.1 to about 3.0 microns and a relative viscosity of from about 1.5 to about 3.5 with (2) a plurality of particles of a vinyl chloride extender resin, said extender resin particles having an average diameter in the range of from about 5 to about 60 microns and a relative viscosity of from about 1.5 to about 3.5; substantially all of the dispersion and extende resin particles in said mixture being in the form of a plurality of characteristic structures wherein, in each structure, a plural ity of dispersion resin particles are in contact with the surface of at least one centrally positioned extender resin particle. 23. The composition of Claim 22 , wherein at least one chemical blowing agent is also present therein.
2. The composition of Claim 23, wherein said chemical blowing agent is azodicarbonamide . 25 . A foamed product resulting from the heating of the composition of Claim 2

A composition comprising a novel structure wherein a plurality of vinyl chloride dispersion resin particles are in contact with the surface of at least one centrally positioned vinyl chloride extender resin particle. 27 . The composition of Claim 26, wherein said dispersion resin particles have an average diameter in the range of from about 0.1 to 3.0 microns and a relative viscosity in the range of from about 1 .5 to about 3.5 . 28 . The composition of Claim 26, wherein said extender resin particles have an average diameter in the range of from about 5 to about 60 microns and a relative viscosity in the range of from about 1.5 to about .5 · 29. The composition of Claim 2J, wherein said dispersion resin particles have an average diameter of about one micron. The compositio of Claim 27» wherein said dispersion resin particles have a relative viscosity of about 2.5. 31· The composition of Claim 28, wherein said extender resin particles have an average diameter of about 30 microns. 32· The composition of Claim 28, wherein said extender resin particles have a relative viscosity of about 2.5» 33 · The compsitio of Claim 26, wherein said dispersion resin particles comprise particles of a polyvinyl chloride homopolymer. 34« The composition of Claim 26, wherein said extender resin particles comprise particles of a polyvinyl chloride homopolymer. 35· The composition of Claim 26, wherein said structure contains only one cen-trally positioned extender resin particle. 36· The composition of Claim 26, wherein said structure contains more thara one centrally positioned extender resin particle.
