Abstract

1360237 Unsaturated polyurethanes and polymerization products thereof WITCO CHEMICAL CORP 4 May 1971 [4 May 1970] 12976/71 Headings C3R C3G and C3P [Also in Divisions B5 and D1] Polymers, capable of further polymerization, are prepared by bridging two materials containing hydroxyl groups by means of a polyisocyanate. The first material which contains more than two OH groups is selected from (a) alkoxylated polyols which have at least one alkoxy group attached to each OH group; (b) phosphorus containing polyols; and (c) polyols containing a quaternary ammonium atom which are liquid at 100‹ C. The second OH-containing material is an alkylene oxide adduct of an ethylenically unsaturated acid, e.g. 2-hydroxypropyl methacrylate. The product has more than two unsaturated groups per molecule and is a polyurethane containing more than four urethane linkages per molecule. The products may be further polymerized using free radical catalysts. Uses: coatings, impregnation, laminates, [GB1360237A]

Claims (1)
