Claims (5)

WHAT I CLAIM XSt

1. A solid .detergent composition comprising a synthetic detergent, a compatible hardener therefor, and a polyol ester of a fatty acid, the detergent being selected from alkyl sulphates, alkyl ethe sulphates and mixtures thereof, derived from saturated fatty alcohols wherein the alkyl groups have from 12 to 18 oarbon atoms, the hardener being selected from alkyl alcohols, alkyl ether alcohols and mixtures thereof; derived from saturated fatty alcohols having from 14 to 18 oarbon atoms and a melting point above 35°C.

2. ) A composition as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the proportion of the eynthetic detergent is 15 to 80$ by weight of the total composition, the proportion of the hardener is 10 to 50 of the total composition, and.the polyol ester is up to 15# oti the total composition.

3. * A composition as claimed in any of the preceding claims wherein the hardener comprises stearyl alcohol and cetyl alcohol in the ratio range of l/l to 2/1.
