Description
A TRAY-SHELF FOR STORING AND ORVINO DI 8HE8 AND I TOHEN UTENSIL8 There are known trays used for placing thereon crockery and cutlery which has been rinsed and which are intended to hold the crockery and other articles during drying, the idea being that the water from the said articles of crockery drips into a sink or any other receptacle from whioh the water can be drained into the plumbing system.
There are knowndalao constructions where such trays form part of a shelving arrangement and an example of such a construction has been described in my prior Patent No. 20663.
The present invention relates to a tray of this kind which can be built up to any desired size (as fa as width is concerned) and which may be used either as a single tray or which may be combined with other like trays to form a shelf-structure for uee in a manner also described in the above-named patent.
According to the invention the new tray is built up from a number of U-shaped; plate like elements which are held together by means of rods passing through a number of such elements and being secured by screw members at the ends thereof, distance pieces being provided between the individual U-members, so as to result in a grid like structure, the webs of the U-member forming the bottom of the tray while the two legs thereof The invention will now be described with reference to the annexed drawings whe reins Fig. 1 shows in a perspective view one of the U-shaped elements while Fig. 2 is a frontal view of a number of elements assembled to form a tray and finally Fig. 3 is a like view, incorporating an arrangement as desorlbed in my cited Patent No. 20663.
The U-shaped elements Indicated by the numeral 1 are preferably made of durable plastics, or metal and comprise a web a and two legs b and c, the legec as seen In Fig. 1 being somewhat wider than the le b. A number of these elements 1 are placed in parallel to one another, as shown in Fig. 2 and are connected by through going rods 2 at the ends of which a screw thread is provided so that a nut 2f can be screwed thereon. According to the drawings there are provided two rods 2 passing through the web portion a and one rod each passin through the legs b and c. It is clear that more or less rods may be emp&tkved, according to the size of the individual members 1.
In order to keep the members 1 at a fixed distance from one another tubular distance pieces 3 are slid on the respective rods. These distance pieces may be short lengths of metal or plastic tubing. Ad can be seen, once the nuts 2* have been secured on the ends of the rods 2 a grid like tray placed thereon resting between two members 1 and being supported by the distance pieces 3 extending between two individual members. Preferably the edge of the web portion a of member 1 is provided with ribs or bosses 1* so that tumblers, glasses or cups may be placed thereon and will be prevented from slideiiBf
Alternatively it is possible to provide a leg 7 having an outwardly extendin handle portion 7*» (see right part of Fig. 2) so that the tray may be carried, as any conventional tray. In an alternative arrangement the tray assembly is provided with an angle piece 8 which has a hole through whioh a fixed vertical rod 9 passes which is identical with the upright rods described in my above-named patent* so that the structure can be slid up and down as described there.
