Description

A mixing valve SHIMON INTRILIGATOR 28541 Inventio relates to mixing valves or ing batteries which serve for controlling the flow of two different liquids with a delivering alternatively the e or the or a mixture of the two li in an desired While such mixing batteries serve mostly for i the bathroom where the two liquids are hot cold the invention is not limited this particular use and may applied to in industry or fo dispensing beverages the one liquid may for a syrup the other one water or aerated or the It is the object of the inventio to provide a mixing battery in which the flow of the two liquids can conveniently be controlled by means of a single operatin handle whose position of adjustment determines both the of delivery of the mixture of the two liquids their relative proportions in portions can be within the full range from of the liquid and of the to of the liquid and of the second The invention consists in a mixing battery prising a housing with feed conduits for two a mixing chamber to which both conduits are and a valve in each wherein the mixing chamber as a cam a spherical a tumable on a correspondingly shaped bearing surface within the mixing so as to be turnable about two different axes by different and about one of the said axes both valves are opened or closed and when the cam member is turned about second axis the valves are opened or closed in opposition to each the followers bear against the sectional edge surface of the cam member at places eccentric with relation to both turning In a preferred embodiment the valves are a tilting opening and closing movement fulcrumed at their periphery at the valve arid followers are rods Extending from the valves through the openings of ts into the mixing The valve seat is ably made from a resilient An embodiment of invention is illustrated by way example in accompanying drawings in 1 is a top plan view in axial section o a mixing chamber according to the 2 is a rear elevation partly in axial section 3 is a view of the cam a schematic fragmentary view of the cam member and valves in a oertain operational The mixing battery here illustrated comprises inlet conduits 2 for the two each provided with a threaded connection 3 by means of which it can be secured to outlet of a feed The two inlet conduits are axially aligned and open into a mixing chamber 4 which has a threaded plug In the transition each inle conduit and the mixing chamber a shoulder 7 is as a port for a resilient washer of rubber or an constitutes a valve he valve proper is constituted by an ed rigid disc 9 integrally with a jects through the seat into the mixing chamber and ves a The valve 9 is pressed onto its seat a disc 11 which is made integral with guide rod 12 extending into a bore a plug which seals the inlet the disc 11 being urged against the disc 9 by a spring 15 ween 14a of disc 12 and plug the mixing chamber 4 a hollow hemispherical cam member 16 is turnable on a ly shaped bearing formed in the front wall 17 the mixing An opening 18 is provided the 17 for the free of an operating 19 tegrally with the cam member tightening cam member 16 on its a sealing ring 20 is in an annular recess i the inner side of wall e cam member 16 is fulcrumed on a flat circular segment 21 which is engaged with an easy play in a 26 extends diametrically in the inner surface of the seg ent 21 is made integrally a shank 22 and the latter is inserted in a flat head the head bears the of the plug preferably sunk into correspondingly shaped and dimensioned and compression spring is between the head 25 and the of the The segment is thue turnable about its longitudinal axis which passes through the centre of the head the cam member turnable about an axis which through the center of circle of which body 21 is a at angles to the axis about w the segment segment 21 occupies the position to the cam any of the cam member about the segment 21 brought about by shifting the handle 19 up or down both cam followers 10 move both at the same time and to the that liquids flow through them into the chamber 4 they are mixed therein i a constant proportion irrespective of the total rate of of Valves 9 opened in unison to same the segment 21 is turned about by a sideward movement the handle the cam followers of axes in opposite so as open one of the valves and close the other the relative proportions of two liquids are within the full range zero per cent o the one and 100 per cent of the other to 100 cent of the first to sero per cent second Since appropriate movement of in one flow the liquids both rate of o of mixture insufficientOCRQuality

Claims (5)

1 A mixing battery comprising a housing with feed conduits for two liquids, a mixing chamber to which both conduits are connected, and a spring~loaded valve in each conduit, wherei the mixing chambe includes, as a cam member a spherical segment, e.g. a hemisphere, unconnectedly turnable on a correspondingly shaped bearing surface formed within the mixing chamber, so as to be turnable about two different axes by different and independent movements Of a single operating member, and each valve is connected to a cam follower for cooperation with the cam ine-aber . in such a manner that when the latter is turned about one of the said axes bot valves are opened or closed together, and when the cam member is turned about the second axis the valves are opened or closed in Oppositio to each other.
2. A mixing battery according to Claim 1, wherein the cam follovers bear against the sectional edge of the cam member at places eccentric with relation to teth turning axes.
3. A mixing battery according to Claim 1 or 2, wherein the valves are designed for a tiltin opening and closing movement and fulcrumed at their periphery at the valve seat, and their cam followers are rods extending from the valves through the openings of the seats into the mixing chamber.
4. A mixing battery according to Claim 3» wherein the valve seat is made from a resilient material.
5. A mixing battery according to any of Claims 1 to 4, wherein the hemispherical cam member is hollow and has in its inner surface a diametrically extending groove in which 30255/2 j .' ! ; ■ ■ - 8 - of the circle of which said member is a segment, while the segment member can be turned itself about an axis perpendicular to the former. 6 A mixing battery, substantially as described herein and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
